Supps!

What's up men?! I know a lot of people use supplements before, during, and after their lifts...I know I do, so I was curious to see what kind of supps everyone is using. Feel free to post all the supplements your currently on!

Peace - J.B.

  1. Sup bro! I have taken tons of supps over the years. I took all the supps that you see in the muscle mags that promise quick gains and pounds of muscle. I never really saw any major gains from the supps that promised big results. While taking alot of these I also experianced upset stomach and a lot of gas:( So with that being said I've moved to a healthier supp program along with the standard tride and true lifting supps.

    So here it is-

    Creatine CE2 Platinum-2 morning and 2 45mins before workout
    BCAA pills-after workout
    ZMA-right before bed
    Magnesium-before and after workouts
    Vitamin C-every morning
    Colostrum-every morning
    Glutamine-after workout
    Super greens-every morning
All natural whey protein from grass fed cows-every morning and right after workout.
Probiotic-which is awesome for overall health-afternoon after lunch
    Apple cidar vinegar-afternoon
    Fish oil-before bed

Its a pretty long list, but I really feel great from everything I'm taking and have seen really good results. Let me know fellas if you have questions or input.

  4. Fellow Beasts! Just Got my newest edition of muscle-fitness magazine...a lot of great articles in the magazine. Might have to make a post about them. But one article that I thought pertained to our supps blog was one called FULL RECOVERY! It was gave the SIX MOST IMPORTANT POST-WORKOUT NUTRIENTS! Here they are:

WHEY PROTEINS: "That short post-workout window doesn't refer to when you consume nutrients; it refers to when those nutrients get to your muscles. The only protein fast enough for the job is whey. That's one reason it's always good to finish with a whey shake."

CASEIN PROTEIN: "Research shows that while whey spikes muscle protein synthesis, adding casein keeps it going for longer and further enhances muscle growth. A good option is to look for a protein powder that already combines why and casein."

BCAAs: "Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs)-leucine, isoleucine, and valine-are the most critical aminos for muscle growth. Studies now point to leucine as being the master switch that starts the proces of protein synthesis."

FAST-DIGESTING CARBS: "You'll need a quick shot of carbs to get to your muscles. Slower-digesting carbs like fruit or oatmeal won't reach them within this short window to replenish glycogen levels for adequate energy during the next workout.

CREATINE: "You need to keep creatine levels high inside muscle cells for optimal strength and energy. After workouts is the best time to maximize creatine uptake, especially when it gets a boost from carbs."

BETA-ALANINE: "This amino acid is now know to be critical for maintaining muscle strength and endurance. Studies suggest that it further aids creatine's benefits, including muscle growth."

The Recovery stack suggested by M&F
-BSN Syntha-6 (for whey and casein)
    -Universal Atomic 7 (for BCAAs)
-Muscletech Cell Tech (for fast-digesting cars and creatine)
    -Ultimate Nutrition Beta-Alanine (Beta-Alanine)

Thought this was a great article - a lot of basic information, but maybe some things that are overlooked. Some times we get carried away or are just trying to stay on a strict budget - this article might help. Again this is only post-workout out supplements, not pre-workout supps or other essential supps like vitamins, etc. But nevertheless it is a great article. Enjoy!
